  • Each of the lamps in an IMAX projector are 15000 watts and inclosed in crystal rather than glass to withstand the pressure (compare that to a household 60 watt glass bulb). If a lamp from an IMAX projector were placed on the moon it could be seen from earth with the naked eye. These lamps get very hot and must constantly be cooled using a complex system of water and cooling agents.

  • The film print is 70mm / 15 Perf. which is the largest film stock commercially produced today. The frame size is ten times the size of standard 35mm. The film runs at an incredible speed 24 frames per second. This gives the film a realistic effect and makes you feel like you are right in the heart of the action. Running and maintaining an IMAX projector is a complicated matter and takes trained professionals to operate.

  • The feeling you get of actually "being there" when watching an IMAX presentation is a combination of the fantastic sound system, realistic image and size of screen. The massive size of the screen tricks your eye into thinking you are moving when in fact you are always in a stationary position in our comfortable stadium seated auditorium.

  • The shelf life of an IMAX® film is approx. 900 to 1500 passes through the projector depending on the care of the film. It is important that the film print stays very clean as even the smallest speck of dust on the film print becomes a large spot when projected onto the IMAX screen. Our projection booth is a controlled environment and projectionists take great care to make sure the area is always clean.
